Fallen Branches Among the Bluebells
By Miles ·
Moss-covered fallen branches weave through a carpet of spring bluebells, with dappled sunlight illuminating the woodland floor.
Every spring, the woodland floor comes alive with the delicate colours of bluebells, creating a beautiful contrast with the old, moss-covered trees growing above them.
In this quiet corner of the woodland, fallen branches lie scattered amongst a wonderful carpet of violet-blue flowers. Their twisted, moss-covered forms wind through the bluebells, adding another layer of texture and interest to the scene.
The fresh green leaves of spring are beginning to emerge overhead, allowing patches of sunlight to filter through the canopy and illuminate the flowers below. The soft light brings out the rich colours of the bluebells, while the darker woodland beyond creates a wonderful sense of depth.
Photographed in May 2013, I was particularly drawn to the contrast between the fallen, weathered branches and the fresh growth surrounding them. What might otherwise appear to be a jumble of old wood becomes an intricate part of the woodland landscape.
There is something rather special about these undisturbed corners of the countryside, where fallen trees and branches are left to return slowly to the woodland floor, providing shelter and habitat for countless small creatures.
For me, this photograph captures the natural beauty of a woodland in spring, where even the fallen branches have their place amongst the bluebells.
