Lantic Bay, Cornwall

A footpath winds through yellow gorse towards the turquoise waters and secluded beach of Lantic Bay on Cornwall’s south coast.
Tucked away along Cornwall's beautiful southern coastline, Lantic Bay is one of those places that rewards a little effort to reach.
Situated between Polruan and Polperro, this secluded bay is surrounded by steep, rugged cliffs and rolling green countryside. A network of coastal paths winds across the headlands, offering wonderful views of the turquoise waters and sheltered beaches below.
Photographed in April 2025, I was particularly drawn to the narrow footpath descending through the spring vegetation towards the beach. Bright yellow gorse flowers lined the hillside, their vivid colours contrasting beautifully with the deep blues and greens of the sea.
Beyond the path, the coastline curves around the bay, revealing a small stretch of pale sand tucked beneath the cliffs. Gentle waves break against the rocky shoreline, while the grassy slopes above are dotted with patches of flowering gorse.
The clear spring sunshine brings out the remarkable colours of the water, shifting from deep blue further offshore to brilliant turquoise closer to the beach.
One of the things I enjoy most about exploring the Cornish coast is discovering places like Lantic Bay. Away from the busier seaside towns, these quieter stretches of coastline offer a wonderful combination of wild scenery, coastal flowers and open sea views.
For me, this photograph captures the anticipation of following a little path towards the sea, knowing that something rather special is waiting around the next bend.
